A good lighting upgrade should do more than make a space look better. It should improve performance, reduce future headaches, and create real value for the people responsible for the facility.
A good lighting upgrade should do more than make a space look better. It should improve performance, reduce future headaches, and create real value for the people responsible for the facility.
In 2025, we completed a full LED sports lighting upgrade for the College of Charleston baseball stadium at Patriots Point, replacing 154 metal halide fixtures with a new Musco LED system while using the existing pole infrastructure.
Like a lot of projects, this one came with a few surprises. We ran into faulty underground wiring and communication issues within the system. We are especially proud of our team for staying patient and solution-focused, working closely with Musco engineers, and using the right testing equipment to diagnose the issues without creating costly change orders.
The end result was a major upgrade in visibility and uniformity, along with programmable RGBW lighting features that add to the game-day experience.
Just as important, the project also reduced maintenance needs, improved safety, and helped secure nearly $38,000 in utility incentives.
